Small talk with Phill

His parents call him Corfitz. We call him Phill.

You’ve come to meet the man, the legend, the polymath, Phill Bramsted. He’s our Danish, dynamic, dev dynamo.

Phill is our lead developer. He’s incredibly skilled, astute, approachable and, above all, he’s a problem solver.

He’s also the owner of a very fine moustache.

Being a humble man, Phill is coy about his achievements, but he is a serious talent with an incredible knowledge for all things tech. And it’s all self-taught.

He started at the age of 11, creating his first website in MS FrontPage. From there he built in WordPress, then made his own full stack framework in PHP. He taught himself to work with databases to model normalised structures for scalable applications, then mastered the ins and out of web design and UI/ UX. He’s also seen the rise of major tech solutions and built and released apps to the Google and Apple app store.

In simple terms, Phill loves developing and Phill is shit hot at it. We are lucky to have him.

That, of course, isn’t the full story. We asked him a few questions so he can tell us a bit more.

Say “hej” to Phill…

  • What’s something people don’t know about you?

Well, people don't know that I'm secretly starting a cult to worship a language compiler as a deity. We call it the "C-C-C-Compiler Cult" because, well, we believe in the holy trinity of compile, link, and run! Our sacred texts? Compiler error messages, of course. Praise be to the debugging gods!
    🙌💻😇.
  • What made you get into this industry?

I created websites in MS Front Page and released my first website at 11. So, I guess it has always been something I liked to do. However, it didn’t become a profession until many years later when I wanted to create something for my parents' business and that unlocked an opportunity to make a living out of it.
  • Who do you admire?

I admire the person who invented the "undo" button. They must have saved countless relationships and embarrassing typos.

  • What’s the best part about your job?

The same as the worst part of the job, and that is the constant challenges and two jobs never being the same. Always something new to learn and you constantly gain new experience.
  • What’s your perfect holiday?

A cultural trip. Going somewhere to experience something new; theatre – arts – music – history – and of course a deep dive into the local cuisine. I would likely go alone and treat myself to some great experiences. Likely allocate an entire day to get lost and explore further than the standard tourist guide takes you.
  • You’ve got a day off. How would you like to spend it?

    I w
ould like to start the day with a walk – go find a local café to have my morning coffee. Sit for a moment just chilling. Get restless within 20 minutes and then back to the apartment – probably putting on a movie and sit with my dog and just disconnect for a moment. Invite my parents out for lunch and then back home to have a siesta. If the planning is right, I would then get ready for either a concert or a performance at the local theatre. Then back home to sit and have a whisky with my father, maybe light up the pipe, and round off a perfect day.
